OTAGO RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Rugby Union was held last night. The president (Ur Evans) occupied the chair. The Chairman welcomed Mr Waigth, of tht* Tuapcka Sub-union, to the meeting. A letter was received from the North Otago Sub-union submitting the name of J. Grainger for consideration for a place in the Otago representative team. —The letter was referred to the selectors. A. Mitchell applied for a transfer from the Port Chalmers to the Zingari-Richmond Club.—Held over for further information, applicant to bo informed that if the transfer is granted he will be unable to transfer back to the Port Chalmers Club unless he stands down for 12 months. —Mr Wootton said the transfer rule was really to enable a junior player to get into a senior team. The spirit of the rule seemed to bo defeated, because some of the junior players applying for transfers would bo played only in the junior teams of clubs which also played a senior fifteen, —Mr Wilson said the transfer rule would probably bo revised at the next annual meeting of the union. The Zingari-Richmond Club wrote si.ding that it had no objection to the transfer of J. A. Guthrie to the Green Island Club.— It was decided, on the motion of Mr Wilson, seconded by Mr Stewart, that a transfer would bo granted 12 months from April 27. A loiter was received from the ZingariRichmond Club stating that A. Fraser, who had been granted a transfer to the Alhambra Club, had played for them all last season and in three matches this season.,—• The Secretary said that Fraser’s name appeared in the official register as a member of the Zingari-Richmond Club. —The Chairman said that Fraser could not plav for two clubs in the one year. —Mr White pointed out that the executive had already granted Fraser a transfer. Tic gave notice to move that the previous resolution granting the transfer bo rescinded.—lt was decided to ask Fraser to appear before the committee at its meeting next week. The Secretary reported that the gate receipts for the match between North Otago and Otago wore £B2 17s, and the receipts for the match between Pirates and Kaikorai £lO4. Accounts amounting to £533 4s Id were passed for payment. —The treasurer (Mr Nelson) said the accounts passed for payment so far this year amounted to £1593. COUNTRY FOOTBALL. Mr Waigth said that football in their district was in a very healthy state. The control of football m his district was quite satisfactory. They had thought in the past that they had a grievance against the parent body in regard to hick of support of country football. After the conference recently held at Alexandra, at which Messrs Nelson and M’Laren had represented the executive of the Otago Union, they wore quite satisfied that the parent body was doing all it possibly could to help them. After ho had returned from the conference and reported to his committee they had expressed themselves as perfectly satisfied with the arrangements suggested. At Roxburgh they had expended £4OO on a ground. It was practically used for football only. He had been told by a disinterested person that it was the best ground out of Dunedin. —(Applause.) They were going to build a pavilion on the ground, at a cost of about £4OO. They would thus see that so far ns his particular district was concerned football was in a very healthy stale. —(Applause.)
