FATAL FALL FROM SIDE-CAR. (From Ou.b Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, June 7. A woman, whose name is not available, met her death through being thrown out of a side-car at this afternoon. A motor cycle skidded on the wot road and struck a post. The woman was thrown out on hqr head, and died on the way to the hosiptal. DEATH OF A WOMAN. £Pjcb United Press Association.) GISBORNE, Juno 6. An inquest was opened to-day concerning the death of Catherine Adelaide Dunlop, about 60 years of age, the wife of Mr J. T. Dtmlop, of Teuaha. Evidence was given that the deceased, who was visiting friends, appeared to be in the best of spirits the night preceding her death. Dr Gunn, who made a post mortem examination, said the deceased had enlargement of the heart. In his opinion death was due to drowning, but the lungs were not nearly so waterlogged as would happen in an ordinary ease of drowning. From this he drew the inference that the woman might have fainted before falling into the water. The shock of falling- into cold water with an affected heart would probably causd the woman to faint. Other evidence was to the effect that the body was found in a pond created bv'a dam across a creek, the dam having been only recently formed. When the deceased was staying with friends the last time there was no water in that part of the creek. The depth of the pond was only 18in or two feet. The inquest was adjourned for the evidence of the deceased’s husband to be taken. MOTORISTS INJURED. (Per United j/.hess Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 6.
