BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS
A LONDONER’S SACRIFICES. RECOGNITION BY THE KING. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 4. (Received Juno 4, at 7.15 p.m.) Mr B. W. Tibbie, a guillotine cutter in an East End printing works, has received the 0.8. E. from the King m recognition of his readiness to grant blood transfusions to the London Hospital, Ihc usual fee for this operation is five guineas, and Mr Tibbie thus far has riven the hospital the equivalent of £267 during tlie last five and a-halt years. He began through hearing-of & small boy who had been run over by a taxi-cab and nad been taken to the London hospital. He went and otiered blood, but it, was "oo late to save the boy. Since then Mi Tibbie has held himself in readiness for possible operations. He says it makes him feel a bit groggy for a week, but he must go on with His work as he cannot afford to do otherwise. Mr Tibbie has also been elected a 'ife governor of London Hospital. Lord Knutsford (president of the hospital) said that Mr Tibbie had given a pint of blood on 44 occasions, and although a poor man ho refused any lee. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
