SCOTTISH CONCERTS.

A packed hall attended the second Scottish concert given under the auspices of ttto New Zealand Dancing and i'ipuig Associa(iou at Darns null last evening', and. judging by uio e.ntnusiasm willi winch (lie various items were received, Ine popularily of Scottish concerts is not u tiung of one or even of two nights. The, Orel Artillery Bauds two selections, “ Fair Maid of Berth ” and “Jack o’ Lantern,’ were well received, me Kuiner jiuiimer being particularly well treated. Mr J. Lcecii, who was encored lor his singing ot " Land o’ the Deal, ' gave as a .second number " Alum Water.” Miss Doris Bell danced the Sean 'J rinbhais acceptably, ivivs D. Catty sang “The Jionnie Wells o’ 1; curie ” sweetly, and in response to a well-deserved encore gave “ We're a’ Scottish jt-ieie,’’ later tonovving with the old favourite, “My Dove Is Dine a Bed, Bed Bose. ' Mr \\. M Ke.nzie’s song was followed by a sailer’s hornpipe, nimbly danced by Master Marlin, his graceful execution of tins intricate dance gaining him a hearty round ot applause. -Mr Allan Young told of •' Lovmki’s Motor Car,” and, on being recalled, gave “The Ball Boom. ' Miss Jessie Kawiinsou was hcaid fa advantage in “Hail, Caledonia,” which was encored, her second number being “Coinin’ Thro’ the Bye” r i he comedy part of the concert was well taken cure ot by Mi Paterson, who lias sung himself into popularity with the patrons of these performances, the audience recalling him again and again. Cowan’s selling of the “ Border Ballad ” was spiritedly rendered by- Mr JS. Drake, who, as an encore, gave “My Kaireal Child.” Miss K. King, a, tiny lass, danced a Highland fling gracefully, and another little lady of fonder years, Miss Douglas, showed herself equally adept in an Irish’jig. A groat measure of the success attending the. concert was due to Mr W. Gatherldge, whose accompanying was an outstanding feature of the entertainment. The singing of “Cod Save the King” concluded the performance. A complete change of programme will bo submitted to-morrow evening.
