The Opihi is due at Dunedin this morning from Greymouth and Westport with, a cargo of coal. The Wanaka, which arrived here on Saturday morning from Bluif, sailed on Saturday evening for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington, Napier, and Auckland. The Holmdale has been delayed at Wanganui owing to a shortage of labour. She is now due at Dunedin on Wednesday morning, and is listed to sail on Wednesday night for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Kamo was expected to leave Lyttelton yesterday for Dunedin. She should arrive about noon to-day, and is listed to sail to night for Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne, via ports. The Gale is due at Dunedin on June 6 from Lyttelton to load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Piako is due at Wellington to-day from Wanganui roadstead to continue to load to the agency of the F.S.N. Company. She proceeds to Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland to complete for American and West of England ports. _ , Practically undamaged, the Swedish steamer Lygnern has resumed the voyage from Portsmouth to Australian porta. Reoently a cable message reported that the Lygnern collided with another vessel off 4 Beachy Head, and had put into the English port. The Cunard Steamship Company in its annual report recently made public, reported profits of £393,968 for 1921. After declaring a dividend of 5 per cent., a balance of £194,777 was brought forward. Captain R. Rodger, late second officer of the Storm, has been appointed master of one Gale, and Mr F. H. King has joined the Storm as second officer. Mr J. A. Harper has signed on as first officer of the Wingatui, vice Mr G. JJ. Fraser. ' HORORATA HOMEWARD BOUND. The Hororata, which left Auckland ou April 25, is reported to have arrived at Newport News on May 24, and sailed on May 26 for London. WAIHEMO FROM PACIFIC COAST. Thfe Union Company's steamer Waihemo arrived at Napier at 7 a.m. on Wednesday from Vancouver and San Francisco. The vessel was expected to sail on Saturday for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth to complete discharge. KENT LEAVES COLON. Cable news received by the Now Zealand Shipping Company states that the Kent arrived at Panama on May 23 from Wellington, and left Curacao on May 26 for London. The vessel sailed from Wellington on April 10. TRELEVAN AT DUNKIRK. The G. H. Scales Company has been advised by cable that the steamer Trelevan, whidh loaded in New Zealand and sailed from Port Chalmers on March 23. arrived at Dunkirk on May 36. DOONHOLM LEAVES NEWPORT NEWS. En route from Montreal and St. John (N. 8.), the Doonholm left Newport News on May 26 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney. She has cargo to discharge to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. NEW DRY DOCK AT GENOA. A project has been evolved for the construction of a dry dock about 250 metres long for repairing ships of the Duillo type (23,200 gross tons) at Genoa. An appropriation for this purpose has been sanctioned by the Government, and funds will be made available to the Consortium of the Port of Genoa. LAST OF THE TAKAPUNA. A passenger steamer, once famous for her speed, the Union Steam Ship Company’s Takapuna, which has been laid up in the stream at Wellington for a long while, is about to end her days. Messrs Todd and Borlace, of Dunedin, who purchased the vessel last year from her late owners, have gutted her, and she has been stripped _ of everything of value. Recently an auction was held on board the Takapuna, and cabin and saloon fittings were sold. The hull will be towed to sea and sunk. Th.e Takapuna was built in 1883 by the Barrow Shipbuilding Co. (Ltd.), at Barrow. Her gross tonnage was 1036. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Line steamer Corinthic arrived at Port Chalmers on Saturday morning from Timaru, and was berthed at the George street wharf to load a large shipment of refrigerated and general cargo for England. On her recent voyage the Corinthic left London on the morning ol April 2. and arrived at Southampton early on April 3. The ship embarked 60 saloon and 371 third-class passengers, and sailed again the same evening. For the first four or five days strong westerly and hign eeas prevailed, followed by fine w'tather and moderate seas until arrival at Colon at 6 a.m. on April 20. The voyage was resumed at 2 p.m. on April 20, and the veieel cleared the Panama Canal the same day. Fine v; cat Her was experienced in the Pacific, but when within a few days’ steam of the New Zealand coast she encountered strong head winds and high seas. The Corinthic occupied 42 day*, on the passage from Southampton to Wellington. Captain* F. Hart is in command of the steamer, and his officers are: —Chief ouicer, Mr John Evans; first, Mr B. K. She is scheduled to leave Wellington on June 11 for Southampton and London, via Panama, PORT VICTOR FROM LIVERPOOL. To the agency of Messrs J. W. Swift and Co., the Commonwealth and Dominion Lino steamer Port Victor arrived at Dunedin yesterday morning from Liverpool, via Panama, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. The vessel was berthed at the Victoria wharf, where the remainder of her general cargo will be discharged. The Port Victor left Liverpool on April 4, and experienced fine weather across the Atlantic. She cleared Colon on April 21, and encountered good weather until she entered the storm area off the New Zealand coast early in May. After a day of heavy seas, the gale moderated, and fair winds were encountered until arrival at Auckland on May 11. Captain L. H. Swan is in command, and has with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr W. L. Twigden; second, Mr E. C. Fullick; third, Mr W. Eenouf; fourth, Mr B. S. Howe; chief engineer, Mr J. Cheney; chief steward, Hr J. James. The Port Victor will go to Port Chainlets about Wednesday to load frozen meat and general cargo for New York, Boston, and London. She will proceed thence to Bluff, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, Waikokopu, Gisborne, and Auckland to complete loading. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally from Auckland about June 27. GOLDEN CAPE FROM CANADA. An arrival at Dunedin on Saturday morning was the steamer Golden Capo, which is making her first visit to -New Zealand. The vessel, which is running under charter to the Nerw Zealand Shipping Company, came

from Louisberg. St. John, and Newport News, via Panama. Auckland, - Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at ths Birch street wharf to discharge a large quantity of general Canadian cargo. The Golden Cape loaded her freight at Louisberg, St. John, and Newport News. She left the former port on March 25, and passed through the Panama Canal ou April 24. Fine weather prevailed in the Pacific, and the vessel arrived at Auckland on May 20 after a voyage that is reported as being devoid of incident. On her run to New Zealand the Golden Capo averaged 11 knots, the best day’s run being made on April 28, when the vessel logged 284 miles. The Golden Capo was built on the Clyde last year, and loft there in October last for the River Plate, where she loaded gram tor Continental ports. Alter her discharge tne vessel uroceeded to Louislerg to commence loading her present cargo. She is owned by the Golden Capo Steamship Company, and is registered at London. She has a net tonnage of 2899 tons, and is 400 ft in length and 52ft in breadth. The steamer is titled with triple expansion reciprocating engines. Captain P. F. Lanchbory is in command, and has with him the following officers: First, Mr S. Hoc; second, Mr K. M. Mackenzie; third, Mr 11. Parry; chief engineer, Mr J. R. Little; second, Mr W. Mercer; third, Mr W. Baird; fourth, Mr 1. L. Roberts; chief steward, Mr L. Williams; wireless operator, Mr W. King. The steamer carries a white crew numbering 36 all told.
