DISTRESSING FATALITY.

CHILD IN BURNING HOUSE. (Peb United Press Association.) TE AWAMUTU, May 11. A distressing fatality was reported from the Korakonui Settlement, some miles ba<fk from To Awarautu, this morning, resulting in the 18-months-okl child of Robert Wyllio being burned to death. Mr Wyilio was away at the time, and his wife was attending, to farm duties. About 7 o’clock she went out to the milking shed, leaving the child asleep in a cot and a lire smouldering in the grate. She was engaged at milking for nearly two hours, and on returning discovered the dwelling well ablaze and approach impossible, the child being burned to death. The dwelling, which contained five rooms, was insured in the State office, the amount being unknown. The deceased was an only child, a. boy aged 18 months.
