A RUSE FRUSTRATED.
Praia Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MADRID, May 10. A Riff ruse that failed is narrated in a communique dealing with the Melilla area. A force of over 1000 tribesmen who were apparently advancing into the French zone suddenly wheeled round and invaded the Spanish zone. The attack was frustrated, and the Spaniards captul’qd prisoners and guns.—Reuter.

ENEMY STRONGLY ENTRENCHED
PARIS, Mav 10. A message from Rabat states that important Riff concentrations are reported. The enemy in some cases has taken up his position in strongly fortified entrenchments. General Chambrun hasTtaken all the necessary military and political measures to deal with the situation. La Journal says: "The despatch to Morocco of General Niessel, InspectorGeneral of Aviation, seems to be due to the fact that the Riffs are using aeroplanes.” Lo Journal also says that detachments of volunteers have been formed at Toulon to proceed to Morocco.—Reuter.
