MOSGIEL BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Mosgiol Borough Council was held on Saturday evening. There was a lull attendance ol councillors. Matters concerning the septic tank were, discussed, and it was decided to renew the filtering material in the filter beds, the work to be carried out by the borough, daymen. It was also agreed to procure prices for wooden distributors for the top of No. I and No. 2 beds. A sub-committee was appointed to interview the manager of the woollen mills regarding the drainage from the mills into the septic tank. The necessity for the re-valuation of the borough was mentioned, but no action was decided on in the meantime. It w'aa considered by the whole council that this matter required urgent attention, and it will probably bo dealt with at the next ordinary meeting. Mr h\ J. O'Neill (Dunedin) wrote offering to broadcast a lecture on Mosgiel and district, and the many advantages it offered to dwellers; also to broadcast a programme of music, etc., by local talent.—lt was decided to accept the offer and to arrange, if possible for a night next month, the Mayor to deliver the lecture. A short discussion was introduced by the Mayor regarding the sale of the Church Board land—a matter which has been before the council during the past few months. Three likely buyers were mentioned, and it was considered best from all points to deal with these rather than to take steps for the borough to acquire the property. It was decided that the buyers must agree to subdivide the property for residential purposes as one of the conditions of sale.
