DUNEDIN HOMING PIGEON CLUB.
The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew their nomination flock race last Saturday from Rakaia, an airline distance of 166 miles. The birds put up a good fly, as there were fogs on the hills, which do not help, fast flights. The birds were liberated at 10.30 a.in., and the winning bird timed in at 2.29 p.m., making her time for the journey 3hr 59min. Mr W. Greer liberated 31 birds, representing nine lofts, with the following result (in yards per minute); —G. CouHs’s Dady Wild, 1229, 1; J. Monks's Blue Jay, 1214, 2; Stevenson and Hargreaves’s Winsome, 1210, 3; F. Jones’s Blue Gerard 1208, 4; S. Lynn's Pcta Peta, 1207 . 5. Birds entered by A. Fraser, A. Bartlett, E. Diehl, and W. Bond also flew
The New Zealand Young Bird Derby for 192 S was flown on Saturday, April 18, when the following clubs took part: —Feilding, Palmerston North, Mt.ua watu, Blenheim, Marlborough, Canterbury, North Dunedin, and Dunedin. The race was controlled by a committee cf three from the Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club—Messrs F. Jones, S. Lynn, and W. Hargreaves (secretary). The following are the results in yards per minute: —J. Gibson, Marlborough, 1200 1; N. Maloolmson, Feilding, 1132.8, 2; G. Malcolmson, Feilding, 1128.8, 3. The following also won prizes for clubs with 15 entries or more:—B. and W. Hester, Blenheim, 1090; A, Brown, North Dunedin, 928; L. West, Dunedin, 923. The following won club sections:—E. Griffiths, Manawatu, 980; A. Marshall, Palmerston North, 978; G. Robertson, Canterbury, 658.
