Mr James Fletcher left by the second express for the north yesterday, en route to Auckland. Mr W. Grounds (chairman of the Dairy Control Board) and Mr T. C. Mr Thomas M'Gibbon, who has been on a visit to the north, returned to Dunedin bv the first express yesterday. Mr A. B. Haggitt, who has been on a visit to the north, was a passenger for Invercargill by the through express from Christchurch yesterday. Mr W. E. A. Miller has been promoted from the position oh Assistant District Public Trustee to District Public Trustee at Wellington, in succession to Mr v.. Zachariah (retired). Mr F. T. Carson, of the local office, will succeed Mr Miller. Sir James Mills, late managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived in Auckland by the Aorangi on Sunday (says an Auckland Press Association message), after an absence from New Zealand of about three years, for most of which time ho has been leading a very retired life in England. He travelled as far as San Francisco on the Aorangi’s maiden trip, and spent two months in Southern California, and then some time at Honolulu, where he rejoined the liner on her third trans-Pacific voyage. Sir James intends to spend a few days with relatives in Auckland before leaving for the south.
