Mr Just ire Sim: Even if yon do continue to-day you will probably not get a judgment until the next sittings of this court. Mr T f that, is the ca.se, T don't wish to appear obstinate as to an adjournment. I would ask that the question of costs be reserved and that we be given the first fixture of the next sittings. T also ask for some form of undertaking that plaintiff will proceed with the inquiries forthwith. The c.ise was adjourned on the above renditions. THE VICTORIA CHANNEL. TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —Some months ago I called attention to the groat risk run by large steamers in navigating the Victoria Channel on her ebb-tide, but this does not yet seem to have been realised by those concerned. It is easy to blame the fog for the grounding of the Siiffolk on Thursday evening, but it was the ebb-tide that held her there against the next tide. These groundings do a lot to provide oxcuses to discharge cargo at Port Chalmers instead of Dunedin.—l am, etc., April 2t. Britisher. Sameness in our daily food is bad for our digestion.
