The first correct solution opened after midnight on Friday, May 8, will be awarded a prize of £5 ss. Conditions and full particulars will be found in the Otago Witness. These novel puzzles afford recreation to those who enter into the spirit of the competitions, and exercise the ingenuity of everyone who attempts a solution. The name of the successful competitor will be announced and the solution published in the Otago Witness on May 12. In the same issue another puzzle for a similar prize will be published. A series of non-competitive puzzles are interspersed between the competitive puzzles, the next appearing in the Otago Witness on May 5. The solution of Competitive Cross-Word Puzzle No. 1 and the name of the winner will appear in to-day's issue of the Otago, Witness.
