REGISTERED BARMAIDS.

A DOMINION CENSUS. (Peb United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, Folmmry 13. Tho Department of Labour, whose duty it is to see that barmaids aro registered, recently asked tho Police Department to lake a census of tho barmaids throughout the dominion. This census showed that of 1209 barmaids who were registered when che Act came into operation in 1911 there are now only 220 registered barmaids working in bars. A few may have been absent from (hell employment at the time the census was taken, but they would not increase numbers to any extent. It was also found during tho taking of the census that there was only one woman onijdoyetl in a bar who was not in possession of a registration certificate. This census shows that tho employment of women ii. bars has been enormously reduced since 1911.
