THE REMAINING AUCTIONS. CURTAILMENT OF OFFERINGS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, MELBOURNE, February 13. A joint conference o< the Australian! Council and the National Council of Wool-selling Brokers of Australia resolved to curtail tho offerings, in accordance with the limited! buying power now attending the auctions in the different centres. It was decided to curtail the offerings for the future by 60 per cent. Although the resulting prolonga/tion of the sales may cause growers whose wool has not yet_ been offered at auction sorpa temporary inconvenience, it is generally felt that this will be outweighed by the compensation of a firmed market and greater _ stability in the matter of prices which it is hoped will result from the proposed curtailment, SYDNEY WOOL SALES. . .SYDNEY, February 12. At the wool sales, under a very slack demand and general dullness of oompdtition, the irregularity of the previous was accentuated, and a further fall of from 5 to 10 per cent, was recorded for all merinos; and poorly-grown crossbreds were also lower by 5 par cent.
