OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Otago Land Board was continued yesterday, and was attended by Messrs R. S. Galbraith (Commissioner of Crown Lands, in the chair), J. Smith, G. Livingstone, C. J. Inder, and T. A. Munro

The Under-Secretary for Lands advised that Mr James Smith had been reappointed a member of the board.—Received.

John F. Tnmblyn applied to purchase an area of about 1 rood in Block 111., Benger District (Miller’s Flat).—Declined. Hjalmcr Werner and W. A. Jackson applied for occupation leases over sections 339 and 120, Block XX., Leaning Rock District, respectively.—Applications granted at rental of 18s ami 21s per annum respectively. Henry Lyons applied for a grazing license over section 32, Block VII., Teviot District, area 340 acres 2 roods 20 poles.— Declined.,

Bertram Walter Adams, licensee of adjoining pastoral run (3460), applied for a grazing license over 820 acres of land known as the Beach Reserve in Block IV., Dart Survey District.—The existing grazing license determined and a grazing license from year to year granted applicant at an annual rental of £7. Messrs Renton Bros, applied for a , grazing license over Quarry Reserve, section 82, Block VIII., Glenomam District, area 9 acres 0 roods 6 poles.—Declined.

Donald M'Lean to Bendigo Pastoral Co., Ltd. The Commissioner recorded his dissent. Quarry res., adjoining section 78, Block VIII.. Shotover and Gravel Reserve, through section 76, Block V3TI., Shotover. 7 acres, D. R. Barron to Eustace Saunders, Section 4a. Block VIII., Dunedin and East Taieri, 16 acres 1 rood 35 poles, Richard B. M'Kegg to Jps. F. Thomson. Section 2t, Block VI„ Township of Kapiti. 2 acres 1 rood, William Dnncan to Jno. W Baxter. R. Atkinson applied for the- right to occupy a small area of land in Moeraki Survey District between the railway line and the beach, a short distance north of Shag Point railway station. —The field inspector to report Angus MacnnUy drew attention to damage to his Section In, Steward Settlement, by encroachment of Waitaki River. —It was resolved to reduce the area of license to 30 acres, and the rent to £t per annum from January 1, 1925.

David Wilbams, one of the committee in whose names the grazing license of the lower portion of Waitaki Islands stands, advised that he had left the district, and reported that the remaining monikers n? the committee wish io have John Harper’s name substituted on the license for hiS.— Granted

Mrs Sophia Ann Cockerell applied to have lease of section 52, Block XL, Highlay District, issued in her name, her husband having died before execution of lease.- — Lease to be issued accordingly. The board was requested to review the position of part section 30s, Wairuna Settlement, at present held under monthly grazing license by Edward Clement.—The license was cancelled as from January 10, 1925.

John King wrote in regard to river encroachment on part section 2a, Steward Settlement held by him on yearly license. —lt was decided to reduce the area to 30 acres and the annual rent to £3 15s.

Field Inspector Mea reported that further improvements had been effected on part section 9, Block X., Inch Cintha District —lt was resolved to increase the valuation for improvements to £ls 15s. The board will resume to-day, when all busruess will bo taken in commUtec
