ENEMIES OF DISEASE
, ULTRA-MICROBE DISCOVERED. DEADLY AGAINST HOSTILE GERMS, NEW YORK, December 27. ' Ultra-microbes, which are reported to spread immunity in the same manner as disease germs spread epidemics, have been discovered by Dr Robert Green, of the University of Minnesota, states the Minneapolis correspondent of the New York World. Although invisible even under the strongest microscope, they can be made into a serum so deadly that one drop will kill the most highly-developed culture of pneumonia, typhoid fever, or diphtheria. Dr Green said: “The ultra-microbe is the smallest unit of Efo thus far found. Tho situation is, analogous'to that of 100 years ago, when the identity of bacteria was first definitely established. It will profoundly affect future medical progress. “A liquid containing the ultra-microbe is made by filtering bacteria cultures through stone. Experiments show that one drop will kill tho strongest infections of germs. “An important factor is that it spreads immunity in the same way as disease now becomes epidemic.”
