TO-DAY’S HARBOUR EVENTS.

ORPHANAGE PICNIC. RAVENSBOURNE CLUB’S RACES. Children from the various Dunedin orphanages will bo entertained this afternoon by mourners of the Otago \ acht and Motor Boat Club in the form of a harbour outing. The children will be conveyed to Broad Bay by the club’s launches, which will assemble in front of the Harbour Board’s office at 2 p.m. for the purpose of embarking the - little ones. On arrival at Broad Bay the children will be entertained by the residents on the same linos as last year. Refreshments and sweets will bo provided at each residence visited, and the children will also be presented with toys. The return trip will be made before sunset. . The Rarvenaboumo Boating Club will hold its second series of yacht and motor boat races this afternoon over tno Ravens bourne course. The yacht race will start at 3 p.m. The following are likely to compete ;—Tucana, Eileen, Result, Shadow, Experiment, Seagull, May, Mahana, Winifred, Mavis, Mona, Agnes, Viola., Arama, and AronuL The launch race will start ait 5.16 p.m. The competitors will probably be Norana, Eclipse, Marewa, Maureen, Idler, and others. The race will start opposite Ravensboume, and the boats will proceed to the flagged pile off St. Leonards, thence round a flagged pile of! Black Jack’s Point, and finish over the starting lino. A boy’s 12ft sailing dinghy raoo will be sailed this afternoon over the Macandrow Bay course. This race ngured on the Macandrow Bay regatta programme on Boxing Day, and all the small boats were disqualified with the exception of Vision. This boat was awarded the prize, but her owner. Max Smith, showed a fine sporting spirit in handing it back to the committee with the request that the race be resailed.
