OAMARU SHOOTING AFFRAY.

ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. James Holmes was brought before the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, charged with murder and attempted suicide. On the application of the police accused was remanded in custody to appear on both charges at Timaru on November 27. He will then bo remanded from time to time until the injured woman, who is at present in the Dunedin Hospital, has sufficiently recovered to enable her to give evidence. The police stated that so far she has shown little improvement, and the bullet has not yet been located.
