(Received Nov. 19, at 9.5 p.m.) At the trial of Alfred Solomon, who was charged with stabbing “Buck” Emden, a bookmaker, at the Eden Club in the' Tottenham Court road district, evidence was given that Blitz, alias Emden, and Emanuel quarrelled. The latter threw beer over Blitz, who retaliated with his glass, cutting Emmanuel’s head. The accused, who was a friend of Emmanuel, seized a carving knife and drove it deeply into Blitz’s head. The Abelson, intervened to capture the knife and was stabbed in. the thigh. He is still crippled. A verdict of manslaughter was returned and Solomon was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.—A, and N.Z. Cable. A sensational stabbing affray occurred at the Eden Social Club on September 23 last, resulting in Solomon, a fruit salesman, aged 31, being charged with murdering Emden and with attempting to murder Michael Abelson, the club’s doorkeeper. Emden was playing cards at the club, wh?n two brothers, reported to be members of the notorious Sabini gang, demanded payment of racing bets. A dispute over the amount followed, and a free fight began. Abelson intervened, and was stabbed in the thigh. Emden died before he reached the hospital.
