MAORI HILL AMENITIES SOCIETY. TO THE EDITOR. Sm, —It is as refreshing as a shower bath to know that there is at least on© deeply concerned resident in our suburb. I have been meditating oe to whether this inquirer was sarcastic or solicitous, but will give him credit for being the latter. I should like our mutual friend to call on me so that wo might discuss a suitable obituary notice to bo prepared and read at a mass meeting of residents, to be held at one of the monuments of the erstwhile society, preferably at the The Clear—or shall we call it "The Memorial Park” ? Dreams such as our friend is troubled with are evidently not very disturbing to our "City Fathers.” They are so solicitous for the welfare of our hill residents that they prefer them to continue to walk rather than enjoy the comforts of the long-felt need of an adequate tram service; and, as for providing a shelter-shed; why, that would be encouraging lethargy to a degree. Consider how you grow if not :n statute, surely in equanmity, waiting at our tram terminus for "the next car." As to whether the Amenities Society is to be a “necessary evil” or otherwise is in the hands of the residents. It may be that the effort to arouse the sleeper from the “state of coma” may cause a reaction if the process is too drastic, and to prevent this there will need to be nourishment at hand (liquid or otherwise) to stimulate life, or better, once for all, to play the "Dead March,” or sing the darkies’ melody, "Disturb Him Not, But Let Him Rest!” —I am, etc., D. Leslie. Dunedin, November 19. The Chrysler (pronounced Cry-slcr) Car now being shown for the first time in Dunedin is the complete realisation of the ideals of the world's loading automobile builder, whose name it bears, Walter P. Chrysler, hitherto unsung, and’unknown to one-tenth of one per cent, of the millions who have ridden in ears built by him. In designing the car Chrysler and his engineers began with a clean slate and designed from the ground up. There was no compromise to existing machinery, manufacturing layout, or the whims and fancies of executives. Every vexing problem of the past has been solved scientifically and without restriction. Just one condition has Chrysler imposed—the very best materials adaptable to the work fo'T'e done and the strain to be borne by every part. And yet the price for such a job will be a revelation,—Todd Brothers (Limited), Dunedin and branches.— -Advt.
