CONTROL OF CRICKET
COVERING THE WICKET. PROPOSAL ADOPTED BY M.C.C. COMMITTEE Pnas Association—By Totegraph—Copyright. . LONDON, October 29. The Advisory Committee 1 at Lords adopted a aul> committee's recommendation enabling the covering of the pitch after 11 o’clock in the morning of the day preceding a match until the match begins, and re-pro-tection thereafter when necessary, and, in any case, nightly during the continuation of" the match; but the covering shall be removed if it is fine at 7 o’clock in the morning. The covering after the commencement of a match must not protect a larger area than 18ft by 12ft at each end, and it must not project over sft 6in in front of the popping crease. The hours of play in county matches are definitely fixed at six and three-quarters for the first day, seven and a-half for the second clay, and six and a-qwarter for the third day, with an extra half-hour on the last day for the purpose of securing a definite or first innings result. The most important question concerned the system of awarding championship points. Yorkshire’s proposal of 2 points for a win and 1 to each side in case of a draw was lost, and the present system retained pending a further proposal. All the resolutions passed must be confirmed by the Marylebone Club’s OommitA meeting of the Cricket Board of Control decided that on the occasion of the Australian visit in 1926 the Tost matches shall bo played on dates in June, July, and August, corresponding with those on which England and South Africa met this year.—Reuter.
