MANCHESTER UNITY.

The Loyal Alexandra Lodge, Port Molynoux. met on October 22, when there was a large attendance of members. Three new members were initiated. The lodge officers conducted the ceremony, and it was pleasing to note that the standard of ritual work was being well maintained. Grand Master Morton gave the lecture exceptionally well, it was decided to hold the annual church parade ut Kaka Point on Sunday, November 9. Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge held a well-attended meeting on Tuesday, October 21, N.G. Bro. P. Austin presiding. Two members Were initiated and one proposed. An interesting letter was road trom the New Zealand branch thanking the lodge for attention to a sick brother. The feature of tho evening was an organised debate, P.P.G.M. Bro. Hamel being in charge. The affirmative on the question “Should Bachelors be Taxed” was appropriately led by P.G. Bro. Geoff. Clarke, the negative by P.G. Bro. C. Rogers. Some weighty arguments were advanced on either side, and a free discussion of the subject look place. The verdict was in favour of the affirmative. The visitors’ toast was responded to by Loyal Centenary. The meeting of tho Loyal Dunedin Lodge was marked by the attendance of members of tho Loyal United and Cavorsham Juvenile Lodges, in charge of President P.G. Bro. H. Cumberbeach. Two delegates wore appointed to attend a conference re formation of a ladies’ lodge. Two new members were initiated into the usual formalities. The following programme of musical items was carried out in a hearty manner Piano solo, Mr Pizey; songs by P.P.G.M. Bro. W. Ibbotson, 'P.G. Bro. H, Bond, P.G. Gleeson; recitations by P.P.G.M. Bro. H. C. Ruosell and P.G. Bro. Arnold; violin solo by V.G. Bro. Gilliaud. Mr , Pizey acted as accompanist, onj the programme was thoroughly enjoyed. Light refreshments were handed round. The visitors’ toast was responded to by Loyal Centenary and Loyal Albion. Loyal Milton Lodge was well attended, N.G. Bro. A. W. Hatton presiding. The early part of the evening was spent in entertaining the Juvenile Lodge. A programme of songs, games, etc., was carried out to the evident enjoyment of the boys. It was decided to hold a aeries of sports events for juveniles during the summer months, and a committee was set up to control same. Several lodges of the district having intimated their intention of sharing in tho official visit on November I. a strong committee was empowered to niako the necessary arrangements. It is anticipated that there will be a large attendance on that occasion.
