THE BENGAL ORDINANCE. CONDEMNED BY MR C. R. DAS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright DELHI. October 28. Mr C. R. Das, the extremist loader m Bengal, says that the peaceful v political progress of India has been rendered almost impossible by the action of the Government of Bengal in arresting suspects on the advice of panic-mongers, tie adds that the campaign attacks the whole political life of India. The raids throughout' the province have now ceased. They resulted in 70 arrests. The European press unanimously applauds the Viceroy’s strong action, while the Indian press denies the necessity for such action. —Sydney Sun Cable.
The Viceroy of India exercising his emergency powers recently promulgated an ordinance constituting a tribunal to try revolutionary cases and providing powers for dealing with suspects and securing evidence in view of intimidation and violence to witnesses.
