SALE OF WORK.

A successful sale of work, organised mainly by tho Ladies’ Guild, was held on Wednesday and yesterday at- the Methodist School Hall, Dundas street. '1 here was a good attendance at tho opening ceremony, whoa Rev. 10. O. and Mrs manures both congratulated the workers on (ho success achieved, and anticipated tho reaching of (he financial goal the guild had set before it- Very hearty thanks were also expressed to all who had come lf> the assistance of the guild members. The Ladies’ Guild members wore in evidence uresiding over the work stall, the cake .stall, tho flower si all. and the tea rooms. Refreshments and sweets were made under the charge of Misses Kendra. Hughes, Henderson, and -Mrs Davidson, anti the soft drinks and ices ; ,lal| was presided over by Mr Divers, assisted by Misses It. Divers. A. King, and X. Henderson. Miss Tanll assisted at (he flowT stall. There were large entries in the various cooking competitions, which were judged by Mr J. G. Rigby. The results wore a.s follow:-Fruit- cake Miss Hetherington ; seed sake. Mis ,W. Thompson; sponge sandwich — Mr;. M'Kinley; chocolate sponge —Mtrs W. M. Roberts; gingerbread—Mrs M'Kinley; shortbread—Mrs W, M. Roberts; iced sponge cakes—Mrs K. Thompson; plain scones— Mr s W. Thompson; date scones —Miss A. Cable-; brown bread —Mrs M'Farlanc; white bread—Mrs MT'arlane: pikelets - Mrs W. Thompson: nut loaf—Mrs W. King; gema—-Mr s MilHer: oocoaimt ice—Mis? Dorothy Ilaitcox ; Turkish delight—Mrs W. M. Roberts; tint, toffee —Master B. Young. Various competitions were organised by Messrs Pauli and Morris, and created much interest and amusement at tho Wednesday evening function. The financial results proved tobe, beyond anticipations.
