RAGING IN AUSTRALIA. ANOTHER TURF SENSATION. PURSER AND HIS CONNECTIONS DISQUALIFIED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE. October 23. (Received Oot. 23, at V. 20 p.m.) Tho stipendiary stewards heard the Purser inquiry to-day, and came to the conclusion that Purser was not allowed to do his best in the Coongy Handicap. They disqualified George Tye and J. R. Oorteen, the owners, C. T. Godby, the trainer and H. Cairns the jockey for 12 months together with the horse. Notice of appeal has been given. The case has excited the greatest sensation ever known on the local turf.

The horse ran unplaced in the Ooongey Handicap and did not appear dangerous during the running. It was stated afterwards that Cairns, the jockey, was just getting his mount into its stride and had him in a good position when Cairns was temporarily blinded by being struck in tho eyes with mud. He did not know where ho was until entering the straight, when it was too late to make an effort to win. Another reason offered was that the horse arrived from Sydney only two days previously, and had not recovered from the voyage.
