[report as follow;—The usual fortnightly rabbitskin sale was held to-day, when medium-sized catalogues were offered to the usual attendance of buyers. CANTERBURY MARKETS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 21. The market is very quiet. A report of blight in tho Pukekohe crops has had influence so far as local prices are concerned. Potatoes produced in Canterbury this year have kept well, but at this late period of tho season their condition naturally requires hard picking over. There are fair consignments in store at Lyttelton and repacking will have to be undertaken before many pass the grader. Any northern demand that may eet in will have to be met from this quarter, as offerings from farmers are in such small lots as to suggest that there are very few in the country. The Karori is duo to leave to-morrow for Auckland, but the amount of her cargo is as yet unknown. Quotations to farmers are about £5 ss, on trucks. Some business is talcing place in next year’s tuliera at up to £4 a ton, on trucks. The pronounced advance in the cost of sacks makes the difference between the on trucks and the f.0.b., s.i. prices equal to over 5s a toe. Th© rains of the past fortnight have made a prospective difference of quite 20 per cent in wheat yields, but it is still considered likely that importation will be necessary.
