October 1L A fire in the grand stand at Victoria Park completely gutted the dressing room, and the whole structure had a narrow escape. _ Hie damage is about £3OO. The building is the property of the city council. The cause of the fire is unknown. WELLINGTON, October 11. Hie Palmerston North flaxmillers sought a revision by the Arbitration Court of the cutting rata fixed by the inspector of factories of 16s 7gd per ton. claiming that 13s was an equitable rate. Mr Justice Frazer, in giving judgment, said that a month’s tally was not sufficient upon which to base a permanent rate. Tallies must be taken for six months, and meanwhile the rate from October 6 would be 10s per ton. BLENHEIM, October 11. The Mariborouh Power Board’s proposal to borrow £300,000 for hydro-electric power from Waihopai, 25 miles from Blenheim, was carried by an overwhelming majority. The actual final figures are not available, but the proposal was carried by a majority of at least five to one.
