DUTCH NEW GUINEA

GERMAN SYNDICATE REFUSED CONCESSION.

Pxmj Association —By Telegraph—-Copyright. AMSTERDAM, September 14. The Government has rejected an application for a concession to explore and exploit Dutch Western and Northern New Guinea by a German syndicate headed by Duke Adolf of Mecklenburg.—A. and N.Z. Cable.

It -was reported early this year that much uneasiness prevailed in. the Netherlands owing to a group of Germans founding a company to explore and exploit Dutch West and North New Guinea. Duke Adolf of Mecklenburg was said to be a member of the group which was asking for concessions to exploit the territory xor 75 years, offering 10 per cent, of the profits to the Dutch East Indies. The Dutch Colonial Minister stated that no concession would be granted the company, but it was demanded that the Chamber should be consulted before a decision was reached.
