MOTOR-CAR AND SILK THEFTS.

SYDNEY, September 15. Following upon a large number of motor car and sUk robberies from shops, the police in two raids recovered 15 cays, and arrested five youths. The police brought to light £IOOO worth of silk goods, the proceeds of recent robberies. Most of the car robberies are attributed to youthful joy riders, who generally abandon the cars undamaged. INSURANCE COMPANIES PROTECT THEMSELVES. MELBOURNE, September 15. As a result of the alarming frequency of claims and the resultant heavy payments for damaged motor cars, the leading insurance companies have decided in future not to pay damage claims. Instead, the cars will be rebuilt or the damaged parts replaced.
