PIRATES’ FOOTBALL CLUB.
ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT.
The annual smoke concert of the Pirates’ Football Club was held in Kroon's Hall on Saturday night Mr F. Johnston presided over a largo attendance. After the loyal toast had been honoured, the Chairman stated that ho thought the past season was one of the most successful the club bad ever gone through. It had a record of which it could be proud. Ho referred to the largo number of representatives the club had had in the Otago A ami B teams Mr E. V. Fairbaim, in proposing the toast of the “0.R.F.U.,” congratulated that body on the way it had carried out its work during the season. It had passed through one of the mast momentous years in its existence. Ho considered that it had done the right thing in the League controversy. Messrs V. Cavanagh, G. Nelson, and E. S. Wilson replied to the toast. Other toast wore: “The Flag Winners,’’ proposed by the chairman and responded to by Messrs Cavanagh and P. S. <lc Q. Cabot; “The Senior Team,” proposed by Mr D. M. Stuart and responded to by Messrs Wilson and Fairbaim; “Junior Teams,” proposed by Mr D. Spcdding and responded to by the captains; “Sister Clubs,” proposed by Mr S. Stycho and responded to by the club representatives; and “The Referees’ Association,” proposed bv Mr M’Phce; “The Wellington Team,” proposed by the chairman and responded to by Mr Law (manager). Items wore given by Messrs Wise, Brough, Templeton, E. Butler. Kronfeld, A, S. Jeffs, If. Ferguson, and T. Clark, son. and jnn. Presentations were made by Mr Fairbaim to Mr D. M. Spodding for services rendered the club and to Mr H. W. Wolslouholmo, on the occasion of his marriage.
