DAIRY FACTORY WAGES.

AN AGREEMENT REACHED. A sitting of the Conciliation Court was held at In vercargill, on.. Wednesday before the Commissioner, Mr W. If. Hugger, to deal with a dispute between the ..employers and employees of the Otago and Southland cheese and butter factories. The employers' assessors were as'follows: Messrs A. H. Mackrell, John Fisher, and A. P Fleming, and Messrs J. E. Clent, J Phillips, and J. P. Gardiner were assessors for the employees. Mr T. O'Byrne acted as agent for tho union. A number of other employers were present representing interested firms, and a complete agreement was reached. Tho following amendments wore mode to the existing award, the amended award to come into force, on Seotember 1,-. and remain ..in force until August 31,. 1925: Cheese Section (all workers).—First, assistant, £4 19s 6d; second assistant, £4 13s 6d; third assistant, £4 65.6 d; youth under 18, £1 17s 6d; .18 to 19. £2 ss; 19 to 20, £Z 12s 6d. Seven-vat factories may employ two vouths. All other factories one youth. Cream and Butter Factories.—Fifteen hands:. First assistant, £4 19s. 6d; second assistant, £4 13s 6d; third assistant, £4 6s 6d; fourth assistant, £4 3s; all others, £3 -17 s. Fourteen hands: First assistant, £4 19s 6d; second assistant, £4 13s 6cl; third assistant, £4 6s 6d; all others, £3 17s bix to nino. hands: First assistant, £4 19s bd; h e.eoud assistant, £4 13s 6d; all others £3 17s. Three to five hands: iirst assistant, £4 19s 6d; all others, £3 17s, One or two hands: General hands, £3 17s.
