GENERAL NEWS.

On Friday night a very successful concert and dance, arranged by Mr and Mrs D. Young was held at Sandymount in aid of the school funds. A number of friend* from Dunedin contributed towards the success of the evening, and were assisted by local performers. The following contributed items;—Misses Kemp, Nyhon, Francis, Meedames Richardson and Young, Messrs Eabbidgc, Stokes. Copeland, and Allan, and Mr J. Allan, jun. Several items were given by the local school children, which were much, appreciated. After the concert supper was handed round. The floor was then cleared and dancing was indulged in till 2 a.m. Misses and • Smith supplying the music. The Women’s Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party met yesterday afternoon at the party's room in Jamieson’s Building*, when the educational talks were continued.
