AQUATICS.

BROAD BAY BOATING CLUB TTip annual meeting of the Broad Bay Boating Chib took place last Wednesday evening, the roar-commodore (Mr J- 1 • Paul) in the chair. The report on the rear’s work of the club staled that from the first meeting of the chib, held on March 10, 1523. the committee and officers had successfully carried out, several functions at Broad Bay which were beginning to interest the boating fraternity. The first of those functions was (ho opening day, held on Saturday, October 28, in conjunction with the Otago Yacht; Club. The most important function was the regatta on New Year’s Day, when the racing was of a very high order. 1 lie next, club races were held on Easter Saturday, when good entries were, received, and (he boating men put in a good" afternoon’s sport, which was also made possible by the club’s officers who undertook the work of starting, handicapping, timekeeping. etc. The balance sheet indicated that tho club was in a satisfactory financial position, and i lie last season had been very successful in that, respect. Tributes wero paid to the retiring commodore, Air J, E. Galbraith, by Messrs G. T. B. Wilson and F. T. Goodwin, who spoke of the valuable work clone by the late commodore, who had been president of tho Broad Bay regatta for some years previous to tho formation of the Boating Club, of which he was tho first commodore. The following officers wero elected for tho coming season :—Commodore, Mr A. Begg; vice-commodore. Mr J. T. Paul; rear-commodore. Mr E. A. Davys; secretary, Air J. .Hudson ; treasurer, Mr !•'. B. Francis ;delegatea to the O.Y. and M.B. Association, Air E. A. Davys and Mr F. Goodwin.

After the club business was completed the prizes won at Easter for yachts and motor boats were presented, the following being tile recipients:—Motor boats; Jewel (Mr C. Irwin) 1. Alarowa (Air A. Robinson) 2, Aotcu (Dr Alocdy) 3. Yachts: Tucano, (Air C. Timlin) 1. Lennox Lass (Mr J. Coleman) 2. Winifred (Air G. Kellctt) 3. Boys’ Sailing Race: Alnscotte (J. Reeves). Air G. Kellctt was also presented with the Oliphant Cup, which was won by him in Winifred during the 1922-23 season, this being tho first race for that trophy.
