A CALL TO ACTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir.,—l see by to-<luy’s paper that it has liceii ’left to a woman to take up her pen in 'defence of our fair city as regards our schools and post ofllfo. What are our members doing? Daylight saying is a splendid thing, but to me it is far more essential that wo should have an np-to-dato post ollice, for a post office is a building that all travellers ask for and see. With an Exhibition in prospect, when there will ’<> many visitors from all parts, are wo thing better to show them than th. ~;d building. As to the schools, it Rcenis to rue that the Education Hoard is doing its best to teach some simple form of addition to the infant classes hy its many and varied buildings and additions, not, two of which blend in form. This does not tend to draw the best out. of our primary school pupils. I suggest that tho writer of this morning’s letter should call together a few of oiir business men and point out to them what, the dilatory methods of our members, combined with thjer own indifference, is costing nnr fair eity.—l am, etc., Dunedin, August 16, J. R.
