SNEAK THIEVES.
OPERATIONS IN WELLINGTON. (Feb Unitkd Rhxss Amocdiatjom.) WELINGTON, August 18. A gang of sneak thieves has evidently been operating in the city. A visitor from Sydney at one of the big residential hotels was relieved of an extensive wardrobe and money, the tourist, being loft with only what he stood in. Fortunately, the money taken was a smell amount, as the visitor had not yet lifted a supply from the bank. In one of the suburbs a resident went off tor the week-end, and left the toolhouse unlocked. When he returned all the contents were gone. As the place is in view of the neighbours all day. the thieves evidently made a nocturnal visit. Other similar occurences are reported, and householders’ slogan Sow is. “ Lock the doors.” Good watchogs are also in demand. BURGLARY IN AUCKLAND. THEFT FROM TAILOR’S SHOP. (Pin Unitej* Punas Association.) AUCKLAND, August 18. Burglars entered the shop of Messrs Sc.hnoidema.n, tailors, Quoon street, by a fanlight at the rear of the premises, and removed goods valued at £75, including ladies’ silk hosiery and a fur coat. The thieves left by the front door.
