EMPIRE CONFERENCE
AWAITING REPLIES. LONDON, August 5. Officials at the Colonial Office state that they were astonished at the cabled suggestion that there was an “ extraordinary misunderstanding” regarding the proposed Dominions’ Conference in October. It was stated tliat the Colonial Office is waiting for the replies of the Dominion Governments to the communication in June which suggested that the conference should bo held. If these replies are favourable, invitations will be issued and an agenda drawn up.
