AN AMERICAN CENTENARY
CELEBRATED BY EXHIBITION, DUKE OF YORK EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright, NEW YORK, August 16. The latest advices from London indicate that the Duke and Duchess of York will probably accept an invitation to attend the International Transportation Exhibition next June at Peekskill, on the Hudson. Every effort is being made to hold the Duke of York’s Cup race for motor boats during the festival, under tho auspices of the Royal patron. The celebration will depict the progress of aerial, land, and submarine transportation, and will include the observances of tho centenary and the completion of the Rocket (the first steam locomotive built by Stephenson). Tin’s will be brought here by the courtesy of the British Government. Meanwhile tho American Embassy and the Court of St. James are proceeding with the formalities, and favourable progress is reported.—A. and N.Z. Cable. Peekskill stands on the Hudson, forty--one miles from New York City, and is served by the New York Central and Hudson River Railways. It has a number of manufactures. Tho population is 15,900.
