ENGLISH CRICKET

THE M.C.C. TEAM'S TOUR. PARKIN ON AUSTRALIAN “BARRACK.” Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, August 17. Although it was originally intended that the team for Australia should be limited to 16, the inclusion of a second wicketkeeper will bring the number up to 17. The Marylebone Club has declined to dislose its present intentions, but it is understood that another fast bowler is likely to be selected. A prominent member of the team stated that ho would not be surprised to see 19 players make the trip. Much depended on the final decision regarding Hobbs. Parkin, in an article in the Weekly Dispatch, says:—“Perhaps the most difficult problem of the English cricketers in Australia is the crowds. They are a rough-and-ready lot, superficially considered, like the Yorkshire fans, who persistently annoy the other counties by trying to beat them with their mouths ; but in reality the Australian crowds are as sporting as any cricketer might dream about. Though the Sydney and Melbourne crowds will show a fierce light of partisanship over matches against England, they have a true love of the game for the game’s sake. If our players are not unduly perturbed by an outward show of antagonism will even come to feel that the Australian spectators know cricket better than wo do in England. ' —Sydney Sun Cable.
