C, Campbell has been appointed for the third year as chairman of the Otago Importers and Shippers' Association. ' Mr G. C. Proudfobt, who has been president of the Dunedin Defence Rifle Club since 1910, was unanimously re-elected to that position at the thirty-sixth annual meeting of the club Inst night. The Finance Committee of the, Otago Hospital Board recommends that Dr R. D. Sfronach bo appointed medical officer at the Louisa Roberts Hospital, Middlemarch. Sir William Sim will leave for Invercargill by the express on Monday morning to preside over the quarterly sitting of the Supreme Court. He will hold a short sitting in bnnco on Monday afternoon. Messrs A. G. H. Hoyles, J. E. Gilhison, A. H. Mackroll, and Adam Hamilton have been appointed to represent the Invereargill Chamber of Commerce at the conference of South Island Chambers of Commerce to bo held in Dunedin about the middle of September. The Board of Governors of Scots Collogo, Wellington, have appointed Mr John H. Murdoch to fill the vacancy in the principalship Mr Murdoch holds the degree, of M.A. with double honours (KnglishF'reneh and mcnjal science). He holds also the degree of M.Com. with honours, a degree which has been won by only two other men in New Zealand. lie holds the position of F.R.E.S., and possesses the diploma in education. At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Defence Rifle Club Jast evening the-.pre.si-dont (Mr (J. C. Proudfoot) referred to the loss the club was suffering through the resignation of.' its secretary (Mr E. 0. Graharo), who had been transferred to Sydney, lie eulogised the services rendered to the club by Mr Graham, and said he had always proved a popular and enterprising secretary. They wore sorry to see him go, but they wished him every success and happiness in his new sphere. On behalf of the members he presented Mr Graham with a chamois pocket wallet. The recipient pnitably replied. Mr IX. Holderness, the manager of the local branch of the Xow Zealand Shipping Company, has been appointed manager of the Union Steam Ship Conipnny'a GUborno brunch, vice Mr W. Beaachamp, who has been transferred to the New Zealand Shipping Company's head office at Wellington. Mr Holderness will leave for the North early next week. Mr W. Boulnois, of the head office staff, who has been promoted to the managership of the Duncdin branch, arrived here on Thursday, and will take over his new duties next week. Prior to his departure from Wellington Mr Boulnois was the recipient of a leather travelling case from the Wellington staff. Mr J. H. C. Pond, the dominion superintendent, who made the presentation, expressed his appreciation of Mr Boulnois's work in tfio head office. Mr P. W. Spite, of the head office staff, has been appointed to the position vacated by Mr Boulnois.
