PUBLIC WORKS WORKER KILLED.

Krnest M'lnroe, cf Totara Flat, a married man, in charge of a Public Works Department gang, engaged in the erection of a now bridge ovor the Waikukupa River, below Waiho Gorge, was killed this morning. Ho was working on the old stnicfcuro when portion of the heavy material fell, fatallv crushing him. An inquest will bo Jiold at Waiho to-morrow.

Logan Park, yrstmlay afternoon, foil, and in doinpr so struck a buffer of tho truck. ITo wa.s removed to tho Hospital, v.iio.re it. ins found that he had su?r;>in«l injuries to his head and ono of his hips. Ho was employed by Messrs Fletcher and Love, contractors fcr tho Exhibition buildings.
