BUMBLE ” TRIES TO ARGUE. Mr Fleming, one of the Lambeth stipendiaries, recently “snubbed” the Camberwell Board of Guardians who criticised one of bis decisions. -Mr Fleming had dismissed charges against two persona of making false statements as to income when applying for outdoor relief. Tho Relief Committee of the Board of Guardians then wrote to Mr Fleming expressing regret at his action and inviting his observations on it. Mr Fleming, in reply, said he was astonished that any public body should he guilty of the impropriety of writing to a magistrate to invite him to discuss with them the reasons for adverse decisions. He had no intention of entering into any such diocussion, and confined himself to saying that he would continue to try, ag heretofore, to decide each case upon its merits.
