ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MOTOR CYCLIST'S DEATH. (Peb United Peehs Association.) HAWERA, July 24. Joseph Doyle, single, aged 30 years, a returned soldier, was found dead alongside his motor cycle and sidecar on the Main South road, about two miles from Hawera. Marks on the road indicated that the machine had skidded. Deceased suffered from -a partially-disabled leg, and it is thought that this may have contributed to his fall. SHOCKING MOTOR FATALITY. (Pbb United Pbess Association. j CAMBRIDGE, July 24. A shocking motor fatality occurred on the Main Cambridge-Flamikon roa<i,. ncar Leslie’s Gully last evening. A moter' van driven hy T. Mitchell, accompanied by two lads named Harold Bretts and John Raymond Looker, was returning from a football match at Cambridge, and after passing another car the driver endeavoured to get on the crown of the road, when ho encountered loose s&nd. f lho enr skidded and Capsized. Looker jumped out, the car tailing cn him, killing him instantly, his head being crushed. The other occupants escaped unhurt, but are suffering from shock. Deceased, who was 19 years of age, was the son of John Looker, and was a popular youth. FARMER’FOUND DEAD. (Pee United Press Association.) OAMARU, July 24. Daniel Gonlding, a farmer at Georgetown, aged 31, a returned eoldior and single, was found dead ’ near his home this afternoon. There were no marks of violence. Heart disease is believed to be the cause of death. John M'Laren, aged 55 years, a widower, with a grown-up family, died while being conveyed in an ambulance from Balclutha to Dunedin early yesterday morning. Deceased, who resided with lus family at Komahapa, had complained of abdominal pains on Tuesday, and on Wednesday Dr Brown ordered hie removal to Dunedin Hospital. An ambulance was procured, and Mr Andrew Shields, of Puerua, and Mr Daniel M'Laren (son of dcceasedl accompanied him. While passing through Cavereham at 3.15 ami. yesterday deceased expired. The matter was reported to the oorpner, but as Ur Brown, of Balclutha, was prepared to give a certificate as to the cause of death, an inquest was not deemed necessary. , . George Sinclair, 16 years of age. who is employed by the Phoenix Company (Ltd.), was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital yesterday evening suffering from a wound in the head. The accident occurred while he was working at the factory, and was the result of a fall, his head striking a sharp obstacle on the floor. The injured lad resides at 47 Forbury- crescent.
