LAND AGENT'S CONTRACT. MR JUSTICE ADAMS’S WARNING. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 24. Mr Justice Adams, in a case in the Supremo Court to-diay, commented on the fact that in an agreement drawn up by Mr P. Best, land agent, on the sale of a house property there were the words “time is the essence of this contract..” Hia Honor asked a witness, Mr T. J. Sleeman, a land salesman employed by Mr Best, why those words were insertodWitness said that they were in all Mr Beat’s agrc-ement\ but he did not know why. His Honor: Do you know that those words should not be inserted without an express agreement in such respect to them between the parties? I have seen them in more than one contract recently, and there seems to bo a practice among- agents of inserting them. They may involve most serious consequences in law actions.
