A GALLANT RESCUE.

WOMAN’S PROMPT ACTION. (Per United Presj Association.) WHAKATANE, July 24. A gallant rescue from drowning was effected by Mrs Soutcr at Taneatua yesterday. While crossing fcbo Whakafcatio River a gig driven by Mr Gooch was capsized, and lie was pinned under the water. Mrs Souter, who was near by, rushed to the rescue, and held Mr Gooch’s head up till others arrived and extricated him in an exhausted condition. The horse was dt owned.
