The deputation consisted of Messrs Hope ii. Gibbons, Esmond Greig, F. W. Markman, and E. A. dhrimptou (chief telegraphic engineer). Mr Gibbons explained that the syndicate asked the passage of Iho Bill, which would give the necessary legislation to enable them to go ahead with the scheme. The proposal, lie said, was based entirely on remarks made by the Minister at Dannevirke on November 30, last year. At the present stage operations were conducted by the New Zealand Broadcasters’ .Syndicate, preparatory to the formation cf a general company which, it was proposed, should have an authorised capital of £IO,OOO. Debentures would bo issued to tbo value of £20,000. making a total available capital lund of £30,000 which, it was honed, would be sufficient to permit the establishment of four 6000 watt stations —one in each province. The company would consist of listeners-in, trade, and Government representation. Iho Minister said the Bill was still in its rough draft form, and when it. was finalised it. would fio presented to Parliament. lie did not think the contents as originally intended would lie altered, but at the same time lie pointed out. that tho machinery could not be perfected at tile very start.
