LOSS AT SEA REPORTED,

CREW TAKE TO THE BOATS.

Pimm AMooiaiios—By Telegraph—Copyright, RANGOON, June 21, (Received June 22, at 6.30 p.m.) The steamer Leicestershire reports having received an S.O.S. call from the steamer Clan Macmillan, stating that she is sinking 30 miles east of Table Island,; and 170 miles from the Andamans.

The Leicestershire steamed to the position indicated but saw no sign of the Clan Macmillan or boats, but fa continuing the search. ‘ A report from the Andamans states that the boats were sighted off the island.— A. and N.Z. Cable.

AN OMINOUS MESSAGE.

NO SIGN OF VESSEL OR BOATS,

RANGOON, June 2L (Received June 22, at 11.35 p.m. The report that the Clan Macmillan’s boat were seen off the Andamans was untrue. The latest message from 'the Leicestershire says that there is no trace of the ship or the boats.—A. and N.Z, Cable.

The Clan Macmillan was proceeding from Bombay to Australian ports. She was a steel screw steamer of 6608 tons, and was built in 1918 by Messrs W. Doxford and Sons of Sunderland. Her principal dimensions were; Length, 420 f t; breadth, 54ft j and depth, 34ft.
