MUSIC IN PICTURE THEATRES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin, —Referring to the letter by “E. A. R. Ache” in your issue of (be 11th inst., on the subject of music played by picture theatre orchestras in Dunedin, of which there arc only two, in which respect, no doubt, wo are behind some of our sister towns, 1 do not know which theatre your correspondent attended last Saturday night, but I was present at one where the music rendered by the orchestra was a delight to listen to, and the overture to ‘‘William "Jell” gained a most emphatic encore from the large audience which was present. It is in the theatres where there are no orchestras and whore one has to listen to a repetition of sometimes most unsuitable music that one gets earache. —I am, etc., Lover of Music. Dunedin, June 20.
