BLAZE AT ROTORUA.
BOARDING-HOUSE DESTROYED. (Pee United P.ress Association.) ROTORUA, May 26. Bclweon two and three o'clock yesterday morning the Armidale Boarding-nouse of 26 room?, owned by Mrs Clarke, and occupied by Mrs K. H. Aston, and a cottage adjoining owned by Mr W. K Bennett and occupied by Mr T. S, Pa rata were b'iriicd down. The cause of the fire is unknown. It in the Armidale kitchen. The occupants all escaped. Very little of the boarding-house furniture was saved, but the boarders saved part of their effects. Mr Parata's furniture wa s uninsured, but most, of it was saved. No water was available, the supply having been turned off on account of connecting' new pipes to the main. The brigade made an excellent save of a near-by building. Hnmilton House, with blankets and sacks wetted from the street channels. The firemen worked on the roof for two hours during heavy rain. The. firo insurances were not ascertainable, bit it is stated that there was a policy of £I6OO on Armidale House.
