ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

Tho weekly meeting of the executive of tho Otago Football Association was hold last evening in the secretary's office, Mr H. J. Duncan being in the chair. Tho Hon. Secretary of the All Saints' Hoys' Chib applied for the uso of a ground on the Oval for the afternoon of Juno 3. Oval No. 2 granted. An application from tho Maori Hill Club for the transfer of R. Newall from second to third grade was referred to tho Transfer Committee. Tho Hon. Secretary of tho Taieri Football Club forwarded an explanation of its first grade team's default to Kaitangata on Saturday.—Letter received. Mr Anderson (Kaitangata) pointed ourt that tho Kaitangata players have groat difficulty in getting off at present, as this is their busy time. On this occasion they had had to interview the management and "arrange for players to work a special shift, and in addition thoy also lost a half-day's pay. No advice had been received from the Taieri Club until 10 o'clock on Saturday morning, and it was decidedly unfair to tho Kaitangata team. Mr M'Lean (Taieri) explained that the team as published in Friday's paper had intended going down, but at the last moment somo of tho players were unablo to get away, and only five of the team turned up at tho train on Saturday morning. According to tho rules of the association a first grade team is liable, to a fine of £1 unless two clear days' notice of defaulting is given to the Otago Football Association. After a short discussion Mr Dcuchrass moved, and Mr James seconded, that no action bo taken. An amendment, moved by Mr Anderson, and seconded by Mr Brown, to the effect that the Taieri Club be fined according to the rules, was lost. It was further decided, on the motion of Mr Deuchrass, seconded by Mr James, that tho Taieri Club be written to pointing out the unsatisfactory position, and also that the Match Committee be instructed to arrange for the return match in the second round to be played at Kaitangata. The Hon. Secretary of tho Taieri Football Club advised that owing to shortage of local players they had deemed it advisable to play only one junior team, and requested the Otago Football Association to grant permission to run a third grade team in placo of a second and fourth,, as N at present. —Received. —Mr M'lnnes pointed out the difficulty of following out tho request until tho end of the first round, and it was decided to ask tho Taieri Club to withhold its request until then, when it could make another apph'cation. Mr \V. Brundell forwarded an explanation of his non-appeaianco for Otago in the recent Navy match.—-Received, and explanation accepted. In connection with tho selection of players for representative team* it was decided that in future players selected be advised by letters of their selection. Mr W. M'Cloy, of tho Taieri Club, forwarded a complaint by one of the linesmen in the Momington-Taicri match, and asked the association for its opinion on the matter. The point raised was whether the referee could over-rule the judgment of tho linesman, and it, was decided to pass the letter on to the Referees' Club, asking it to report to tho Otago Football Association.
