THE HOSPITAL BOARD. TO THE EDITOK. Sib,—The afiairs of the Hospital Board require some explanation. Di M'Kibbin has practically told the board that it has neglected its duty. Its replica to him are worth noting. Mr Quelch said that the board should do more for infectious diseases than it had done, but the district had been reduced by a fifth, and the board's finances were simply hopeless. The chairman (Mr W. E. S. Knight) said "that the board had not the money at the present time," but ho also admitted that more should be done for lnfeotious diseases. But why spend about £ 15,000 in an extension to the Nurses' Home? Does this come out of a different fund? Dr M'Kibbin 6hould be highly commended for his public utterances, and I trust the board ..will wake up and epend it« energies in the right direction, and give more relief to thoae who sufier.—l am, etc., O. H. Hatwabzi.
